The Sound of the Dead and Dying in a Full House

A television lies screen up on the ground in a dimly lit room. On the TV an episode of Full House with no sound, except the laugh track, is playing. The Full House laugh track comes, as most laugh tracks do, from a recording made on the Red Skelton show in 1951. A 28 year-old in that audience would be about 85 today. It is fair to assume that many of the people laughing on this canned track are dead or at least very old. When we watch Full House we are hearing the voices of the dead and dying.
